Home roasting has become increasingly popular over the past few years, but why? Most people start home roasting out of curiosity or because it’s a cheap way to experiment with a range of beans but soon they are roasting for the freshness and quality of each cup.
Home roasters get a first-hand experience of the process, allowing them to better understand the roast depth and its effect on the flavors produced by each bean. Eventually, some will create a custom blend that suits their own palate and drinking style. The process can be completed with a few devices including a popcorn machine, a wok, a heat gun or paint stripper, a breadmaker, and a barbecue. If you are really interested in pursuing multiple flavors of coffee or just seeing the process first hand, home roasting is the way to go.
